I CANNOT get my messenger to open all of a sudden. I have rebooted, re-downloaded, etc. Help!!?

I even tried to remove the application via add/remove programs and that just hung up my computer. Any advice is welcome here. I use messenger for business purposes and really need it back! Thank you.

Reboot your computer and do not have any applications or browser windows open then try to uninstall Yahoo Messenger through add/remove programs. Reboot your computer again. Now navigate to Program Files and open the Yahoo Folder. Delete the Messenger Folder inside which contains files left over after the uninstall.

Now get a new download of Yahoo Messenger. See below for a link to the full installer. Save it to your desktop and install it from there.

This full installer comes directly from a yahoo server and by passes the web installer that most use. If on Windows Vista right click the full installer and choose � �Install as Administrator� �.

If you are still unable to install it, after you download the installer, you might have to temporarily disable the User Account Control (UAC). You can easily turn it back on. On the Control Panel (Category View) choose User Accounts and Family Safety, next choose User Accounts, and then click Turn User Account Control on or off.

Click on Start Button/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Add or Remove Programs.

DUMP anything that says Yahoo Messenger (toolbar, address book etc etc etc) they will be listed at the bottom of that window if there are any), and go to this website,,,,,

type in Yahoo Messenger (at the bottom of the page in the Google search bar, make sure the dot is in the www.oldversion.com option, hit Search click on the first link under the Web results (it will take you to the Older Version site, scroll down and you can see where you can pick which one YOU want).

PS. No, you will NOT lose any Contacts from a previous version you ran, they are all saved on Yahoos Sever and will transfer to whatever version you install.

IM will sometimes randomly do that. It's a pain in the butt, but just be pateint and give it a little bit and you should be able to sign back on.
