If someone can't breath, what can I do?

If someone's airway becomes restricted and they can't breath (from a sickness like strep throat etc) will CPR help?

If nothing else works, is there a place on their throat I can make a cut so they can breath (albeit painfully) until help arrives?

DO NOT TRY TO CUT ON ANYONE WITHOUT PROPER TRAINING AND LICENSE .

If they can't breath, keep them as calm as you can. Set them down in a comfortable spot. Encourage them to breath in and out slow and deep. Meanwhile, you should have called 911 or what ever the emergency number is in your area, and are waiting on the EMTs to arrive.

unless your CPR certified or an EMT - you do nothing until help arrives. You could make the matter worse.

you start cutting on someone without training and you will go to prison if they die.

NEVER perform a tracheotomy unless you have been properly trained to do so, and someone telling you how on the internet does NOT constitute being properly trained. Strep throat will not cause an airway to be that restricted. If you're concerned about stuff like that, go to a CPR training course.
