Issue upon Install

January 7th, 2009 by wktd
  • I'm following the install FAQ verbatim, but I cannot get any of the PHP scripts to run. I'm stuck on the /install/install.php portion of the install FAQ. When I hit GO on my browser (Mozilla / IE) it gives me 500: Internal Server Error.

I setup the database with my server controls. I have the correct login name, and the correct password for that database. It's enabled as admin, and allowed everything server side. All of that info is in my config.php.

I replaced 'localhost' with the URL the server admin panel provided me, but I do not see a port # from them so I left it as '3306'. I feel this is where my error lies, and I am awaiting feedback from my server host. Does the URL require the "http://" before it? I just gave the subdomain.domain.com

Database is MySQL 5.+ / PHP 4, so I changed the force command to 'true' in the config.php, this did not help.

I'm not 100% sure on what I am doing, but I can learn fast so give it to me straight. I just want my forum working! This is the first time I've had to setup a VBulletin... I'm a ninja at being an Admin and setting up everything from there (users, usergroups, etc.), but I'm getting no where in the install.

Let me know how I can help you. I did some searching about the 500 Error but couldn't find anything similar to my issue. If you can find something I'd be happy to have a look.

Nevermind, this is the exact issue. I suppose I'll hit up my host.
