Trying to find the title of a Science Fiction book

January 6th, 2009 by admin
  • A few months ago I stumbled across a hardcover science-fiction book in my school's bookstore. I read blurb on the back and the jacket notes, etc, and decided the it might be interesting. However, I couldn't afford the book at the time. Now I'm interested in purchasing the book, but I can't for the life of me find any information about it. I had *believed* the title of the book to be "Jane Government", but searching on Amazon.com, Powells.com and Google revealed nothing for that title. Here is what I recall for sure about the book: First, the cover design of the book is striking, and is what got my attention in the first place. It is white, with a view of just a part of woman's face, very pale. One eye is visible, with long lashes, and on her cheek, immediately below her eye, is a bar code. To the side is the title of the book. What I recall about the synopsis of the book is this: It is set in a future in which the name of a person's employment has replaced the idea of a surname - in other words, you might have Adam Carpenter, Lucy Automotive, or Jane Government. The plot is tied to a man who has been wrongfully perceived of committing some crime, and he is being chased by Jane Government (or Judy Government, some female name like that). If I recall, the book was described as being fairly light and humorous, though not actually a work of comedy. When I first encountered the book, which I think was some time in october, it was a fairly new release. I'm hoping that, based off of that information, you could retrieve the title of the book. Knowing the author would also be very nice. This is my first submission of a question to Google Answers... I hope that the sort of information I've been able to provide helps you find an answer.

  • Thank you, this is exactly the answer I was looking for. Simple, but with all the information I requested.

  • Thank you for the tip. -juggler
